What's Involved

Becoming a volunteer is easy!

We are always in need of enthusiastic individuals who are willing to give their time and energy in exchange for free access to some great film and much appreciation!

The festival itself takes place the last weekend of September each year. This is when the majority of help is needed. There are opportunities before and after. We’d love to have you join our team!

Each shift is approximately 3 - 4 hours in length with a 2 shift minimum. You can sign up for shifts online (see above).

As a thank you for your time, you'll receive 4 free tickets to films for every 2 shifts worked (and you can use these for friends too)! You'll receive the tickets prior to festival starting. Oh, and MANY THANKS!

To keep you in the loop, you'll receive minimal yet important emails from us.

Please plan on attending 1 training session (one hour in length). We offer two possible training sessions for your convenience (see below for dates and times).  If you're unable to attend, you can watch a training video and still volunteer at the film festival.

Session #1: Wednesday, Sep 12 - 5:30 to 6:30 pm

Session #2: Sunday, Sep 16 - 3:00 to 4:00 pm

Location: Center for the Arts - 606 6th Street, Crested Butte 81224

Volunteer Job Descriptions

This will help you decide what you'd like to volunteer for when signing up for shifts:

Theatre and Venue Operations
Volunteers greet and welcome guests, provide Festival information, check passes at the door, sell tickets, make popcorn, usher, assist with line control inside and outside the building, count guests, tidy up theatre between showings. In most cases, once all patrons are seated, you may watch the film while on shift, but it is not guaranteed.

Box Office/Will Call
Volunteers greet and welcome guests, provide Festival and local area information, sell passes and merchandise, dispense pre-ordered passes for patrons, greet filmmakers and VIP’s, distribute volunteer, filmmaker and VIP packets, assist in directing patrons, tidy up lobby and restrooms.

Ambassador (floating position)
Volunteers position themselves on Elk Avenue promoting the Festival, handing out programs, providing Festival information and directions, film times and locations, engaging new audiences. This also includes checking in with Festival Directors to help run errands around town and between venues.

Volunteers assist with parties, receptions, and filmmaker panels.  Duties include set-up, bussing tables, clean-up, breakdown, checking passes at the door, selling tickets, and greeting guests.

Post-Fest Volunteering
On Monday, volunteers breakdown venues and transport gear and equipment back to Film Fest Office for sorting, packing and storing for off-season.

Thank you very much for joining our team.

We appreciate it and look forward to working with you!
