How It Works

How many films will you have? And what are they?

CBFF will show around 90 films (at multiple venues) over the 4-day Festival. Our International film festival features narratives, documentaries, outdoor adventure and shorts as well as free children’s programming and filmmaker talks. The complete schedule will be available online September 1.

“I’ve never been to a film festival before. Can anyone come?”

Crested Butte is the coolest town around. Of course you’re welcome. We want you here! There’s two ways to buy tickets and make (the very casual) scene: buy passes online  now or at our Box Office during the Festival or simply stroll up to the theatre of your choice (will be showing at three theatres concurrently) to purchase your ticket ($10 cash only).  Simply told, we want to create a great cinematic weekend for you and your friends and family.

How does it work?

Well, it’s a great idea to book a room or a condo ahead of time, and get your pass early. The rest is simple. You can pick up a Festival Program so you can decide the great films and events that you would like to attend. You’ll see our friendly volunteers visible during the festival for any questions that you might have.

Buy Your Passes Early…

To save money and secure a spot, you can purchase a 4-Day Pass ahead of time.

Research the Films Beforehand…

You can find our complete film schedule posted on our website on September 1. The CBFF schedule includes a short synopsis and trailers to the films can be found on our website. Most films will be shown twice, some only once, check the schedule. Remember to attend films where the filmmakers will be present – this makes for a truly unique experience!

Plan a mini-vacation…

Whether it’s a friends weekend getaway or you’re taking the whole family, planning a weekend trip to Crested Butte at the end of September is a great idea. With fantastic local restaurants and hiking and biking trails to visit between screenings why not make a weekend of it? And to top it all off, the colors of the trees are sure to enliven and inspire your trip!

Upon Arriving…

Please visit us at our Box Office at the Center for the Arts, Crested Butte. This is one of the first buildings on your right when you pull into town. Here, you can pick up a Festival Program (these will also be found around town at various locations). A hospitality member would be glad to assist you and answer any questions about how to make your festival-going experience a great one!

“Are there any rooms in Crested Butte?” (Nope, you’re gonna have to bring your pup tent and sleeping bag.)

Of course there are rooms! 130 in town itself, and over 3,000 rooms three miles away in Mt. Crested Butte. (May we suggest booking your ideal room and location now, town will soon fill up). Accommodations can be made through links provided on our website. A free shuttle bus links the two towns and runs every 30 minutes. Once you’re in either location, it’s highly likely that you won’t need your car for three days. Imagine that.

“Hmm,  where exactly is Crested Butte? I’ve always wanted to go there.” (About forty people in Denver have said this to us.)

It’s simple: Crested Butte is four beautiful hours west of Denver (and no I-70!). Take 285 west to Buena Vista. Turn left on 285/24 to Poncha Springs, right on 50 up and over Monarch Pass and down into Gunnison, take a right on Main Street and drive 28 miles into Crested Butte.
